Hello Tribe!!!!
Do you ever feel the need to wear a particular outfit based solely on your choice of jewellery? That is my reality most of the time, because of my love for jewellery I gravitate towards my jewellery selection first before deciding on the outfit. A recent survey I did showed me that most ladies do theirs the other way around. Outfit first before choosing the jewellery.
I was invited for a formal dinner a week ago and the dress code was simply “A little black dress showing your personality” and I loved it. The traditional black dress was now given the right to become edgy. I wanted my personality to be visible to everyone I met that night.
Sense of colour
We all have our favourite colours that influence our choice of jewellery and clothing. It is either a tone-on-tone match or a contrast of colour. I went with a contrasting colour. My favourite colour, green, was very dominant in my selection. Here’s a tip: the choice that makes you smile instantly when you look into the mirror, is the right one. It’s all about that instinct!
Size of the jewellery
A big pair of earrings should not be matched with a big-sized necklace. It will be an overkill. Striking a style balance is key when deciding on a piece of jewellery for an outfit. We don't want jewellery to be understated and not seen. It would defeat the purpose of accessorizing if it doesn’t show at all. However, with larger pieces of jewellery, you have to take into account if both – your clothing and jewellery – are fighting for attention or they’re merely complimenting each other.
Make a style statement.
You can look chic and edgy with oversized jewellery, especially a bib necklace or drop earrings. Wearing both may be too much of a statement, and neither will be given due attention. One piece of oversized jewellery is more than enough to make you look glamorous.
If you want to be more subtle, you can go for diamond or pearl earrings and a pendant necklace. The idea behind choosing complementary jewellery to wear with your outfit is to maintain a visual balance.
In conclusion, choosing the right jewellery to compliment your formal outfit can be a tricky task. However, by considering factors such as colour, size, and, style, you can select the perfect pieces that will enhance your look and make you feel confident and stylish. Remember to balance your accessories with your outfit and avoid over-accessorizing. With these tips in mind, you can confidently choose the perfect jewellery for your next formal event and make a statement with your style.
Till next time.
